GRIPPS® Audits

GRIPPS Drop Prevention AuditsWhat do your controls look like on site?

Engineered drop-prevention audits and solutions for construction, maintenance and industrial services at height. A GRIPPS® auditor visits your site, assesses your work fronts and tool stores against five key elements, and gives you a transparent, actionable plan and knowledge of the solutions needed to close any gaps.

The problem

A good plan on paper
isn’t the same as ready on site

Dropped objects are one of the most prevalent critical risks for professionals working at height. Does your team have a written drop prevention plan, and can it be put into action on your worksite?

Many of the teams we work with have a plan on paper but aren’t ready to action it on site. Others don’t have one yet, and we can help with that too. Either way, the audit checks:

  • Does every tool used at height have a connector fitted that is compliant and suitable for the work required?
  • Are the drop zones below work at height fully contained by engineered-for-purpose encapsulation, with no gaps?
  • Are lifting bags and buckets sealed, rated and tethered, so nothing can fall out?
  • Is a trained and authorised dropped object champion in the field on each shift, with the authority to stop work?
  • Is adequate stock available at multiple site locations, at each work front, when crews need it?

We built the GRIPPS® Audit program to answer those questions with evidence, not assumptions.

What we audit

Five key elements. One clear picture.

We visit your site and assess your work fronts and tool stores against 52 criteria across six sections, from administration and training through to shutdown readiness. At the centre are five key elements, each rated READY or NOT READY for day one.

1

Connectors on all tools

Every tool has a connector fitted, which is compliant and suitable for the work required. We check certified connection points are matched to each tool’s weight and purpose, backed by a tool inventory and a go / no-go check before tools are issued.

2

Engineered-for-purpose encapsulation

Encapsulation is engineered for the purpose, not improvised. Height areas and the drop zones beneath them are mapped, encapsulation is installed without gaps (including stairs and access routes), and drop zones are barricaded and inspected.

3

Sealed lifting bags and buckets

Bags and buckets have sealed closures and marked safe working loads, and are tethered at height rather than left loose on grating or handrails.

4

Trained and authorised champions

Champions are appointed by name for each work area and shift, trained above awareness level, identifiable in the field, and authorised to stop work.

5

Stock at multiple locations

Demand is calculated from the tool inventory, stock plus contingency is on site before day one and held at each work front, and replacement stock is ready for immediate exchange.

These five elements put the GRIPPS® CATTE methodology (Connect, Anchor, Tether, Transport, Encapsulate) to the test on your site, so you can see how each step is working in practice, not just on paper.

What we look at on your site

Our audit looks at your work fronts, the tools your crews carry, and the bags and stores they rely on.

What you receive

A report you can act on

The audit report is detailed by design. It records what we found and the evidence behind it, and gives you a transparent, actionable plan, with knowledge of the solutions needed to close any gaps. You receive:

  • A READY / NOT READY result for each of the five key elements.
  • An overall readiness recommendation: Go, Conditional Go or No-go.
  • Corrective actions with suggested owners and target dates.
  • Prioritised improvements, including the three to act on first.
  • Our auditor’s commentary on each key element.
  • Photographic evidence from your own work fronts and tool stores.
  • Examples of what good looks like, so your teams know the target.

Your insight

See exactly what your team needs

Every site is different, and so is every crew. The audit shows you what’s in use, and it also shows you what’s missing. You’ll come away knowing:

  • Which tools need connection points, and which need another form of containment.
  • How many tethers, anchors, connection points and bags your crew needs, calculated from your tool inventory, work fronts and duration.
  • Where encapsulation gaps need closing, and what materials your scope requires.
  • Which bags and buckets need replacing with sealed, rated alternatives.
  • Which roles need training, and where a dropped object champion should be appointed.

The result is a clear, site-specific view of the drop prevention solutions your team or company requires, based on what we see in the field.

How it works

Three steps from site walk
to actionable plan

1

We visit your site

A GRIPPS® auditor walks your work fronts and tool stores, reviews your documentation and speaks with your site representatives.

2

We assess and rate

Each criterion is rated against the evidence we sight, so you can see where controls are strong and where they’re not.

3

You get your report and an actionable plan

A detailed report with your readiness result, corrective actions and priorities, so you know what to close first and which solutions your team needs to do it.
